The music ministry is a part of Bethany Church that nurtures the spiritual life of the whole congregation. Its first
priority is to contribute to the worship life of the congregation. At its heart, music in the church is based on
relationships as much as it is on music itself: the individual's relationship to God, the group's understanding of its
relationship to God, and the relationship between people. As such, it is a vehicle through which the church is able
to fulfill its ministry.
Ministry through music means different things to different people: to those who participate actively in music, it is a
means of stewardship and expression of faith. To those who minister as pastor, the ministry of music represents a
means of expression and edification of spiritual concepts. To those who participate as listeners and responders,
the ministry of music becomes a means of expression of praise, thanksgiving, confession, gratitude, adoration
and worship of God. The ministry of music at Bethany is an inclusive program, encompassing many musical styles
and eras, all ages and abilities, speaking to and drawing from the musical heritage of the whole church.
The ministry of music seeks to glorify God, to nurture God's people, and to reach out into the world. Under the
leadership of the Director of Music Rebecca Shaull, the Bell Choir Director Louise Duncan and a wonderful group
of gifted member ministers, the music program of Bethany is alive and active through weekly worship leadership,
Chancel and Bell Choir anthems and special music opportunities throughout the year.
